Welcome to 2013 friends!  Here’s what’s happening over at SantaRosaMom.com this week:

Indoor Fun
Baby, it’s cold outside!  So what to do when then your child still wants to have fun?  Take it indoors!  Check out our ongoing list of local places to go for birthday parties, entertainment, and guaranteed ways to keep your child moving even in the winter months.  Did I miss you favorite?  Be sure to add it in the comments.  Find it quick at pressdemocrat.com/indoorplay.

The Mom Contract
A mom gives her son an iPhone for Christmas – and 18-point contract for him to sign if he wants to keep it and use it.  Too excessive?  Or brilliant?

Brag time!
I have seen what some of you moms can do, and frankly, I’m impressed.  Now’s your time to crow about your special talents, or anything you might be proud of knowing how to do.  From flipping pancakes to painting murals, what is something you’re really good at?

Making and keeping your resolution
Even if you haven’t made your 2013 goals yet (confession – I am still working on my own!), there’s still time to be thinking about them.  What do you hope to achieve this year?  What changes would you like to make?  How do you plan on making 2013 better than last year?  Check out my tips on making and achieving your goals for this year and beyond.

Whale watching: Now through May is the time to visit Bodega Head to catch a view of migrating whales. The best place to see these gentle giants is at the Ocean Overlook at Bodega Head. Volunteers from the Stewards of the Coast and Redwoods will be onsite (weather permitting) from noon – 4 p.m. to offer their insight and help point out whales. stewardsofthecoastandredwoods.org

Saturday, Jan. 5
KidsWorx: Every first Saturday, Friedman’s and the Children’s Museum of Sonoma County hold a FREE community creative workshop for kids. This Saturday kids can make and take home their very own musical instrument. Ages 3 and up. 9 a.m. – 12 p.m. Friedman’s Home Improvement. 4055 Santa Rosa Ave., Santa Rosa. friedmanshome.com/kidsworx

Science Saturday:  The Environmental Discovery Center at Spring Lake is teaching all about “Garbology” at this month’s free workshop.  Bring the kids to the center for some learning fun.  393 Violetti Rd., Santa Rosa.  sonoma-county.org/parks/edc.htm

Today till Jan. 6
Holiday in the Park: It’s the final weekend to see Vallejo’s Six Flags Discovery Kingdom all lit up for the holidays. With millions of dazzling lights, a nightly Christmas Tree lighting, themed shows, rides, and more, this is definitely a sight to see before it’s all over. Tickets range from $37.99-$57.99 per person, but a little secret is to just purchase season passes for almost the same amount, and go unlimited times throughout 2013. See website for more information. content.sixflags.com/holiday_sfdk

Have a wonderful week, and I’ll see you on the forums!
