In my teen years, I often would ride my bike go over to my grandparents’ house to mow their lawn and do small chores. My grandmother, a strong Swede in her late 80s at the time, was always so appreciate that she would roll out a full meal whether I needed it nor not. (Who eats “supper” at 3 p.m.?) But I have to say I look back with fondness on those talks we had.
I also look back with regret that the only time all my family came together to paint their home and fix it up was after my grandfather died. The best that house ever looked was the day we sold it and moved grandma into a nursing home.
I thought of that when I saw this TV commercial which has gone viral on YouTube. Check it out. It was put out by Edeka, a German supermarket chain, but it works in any language. Yes, I’m a sucker for these kinds of ads. But that’s only because there’s something here that rings true.
