Happy summer everyone! Some of you are done with school, others are close to done, and nearly all of us are feeling SUMMER FEVER! I am so excited, I can hardly stand it. Of course, I’ll probably be singing a different tune in the second week of summer…. At any rate, here’s a few fun events going on this weekend to start your summer off right. Children’s Museum breaks ground: Grab a shovel and dig in at 11 a.m. for the groundbreaking ceremony, and then stick around for “Build-a-Bug” fundraiser workshops, interactive exhibits, family activities, food truck noshes, and more. $5. 10 a.m. – 2 p.m. 1835 W. Steele Ln., Santa Rosa. cmosc.org

Matsuri Japanese Arts Festival: The Japanese cultural event started in 2011 as a way to raise funds for victims of the earthquake and tsunami in Japan, and has fast become a popular annual tradition that includes taiko drumming, traditional dancing and singing, theater performances and martial arts, as well as many children’s activities. 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Julliard Park, Santa Rosa. www.sonomamatsuri.com

Sunday, June 2
Day on the River: The Foundry Wharf, North Bay Rowing Club, and Aqus Community are teaming up for a day of fun on the river at this land and water festival. Food and entertainment will be going on at Aqus from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., and from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. will be fun opportunities to get your butt in a boat! Storytime with Cinderella: Tutu-a-Gogo and Amazing Fairytale Parties are teaming up for the princess party of a lifetime!  The 90 minute event includes a magical story hour with Cinderella, as well as singing and dancing. Your little princess will receive a Cinderella tutu and yummy snacks, as well as fun memories of an afternoon with Cinderella.
