It seems that the Elf on the Shelf has been making the rounds to families all over the nation, causing havoc everywhere he goes.

Not hip to who this naughty little elf is?

According to the book, Elf on the Shelf by Carol Aebersold, Santa sends an elf to each house to be his eyes and ears to determine who is naughty and who is nice. Each night, the elf flies back to the North Pole to report back to Santa, and then returns back to the home they came from. Except elves are mischievous creatures and are never found in the same place twice. As a result, every morning kids find their elf in a different place in the house, and sometimes covered with proof of their trickery. Find out more HERE.

Several families here in Sonoma County and beyond have managed to catch their elf in the act, revealing scenes of mass destruction…at least on a small scale.  Check out what these elves have been up to:

“Jingle Bell”, the elf at Jessica Harvey’s house, seems unable to keep his hands to himself!  One day he was found on the towel rack in the bahroom.  Another, he was found swinging from the blinds.  He got into the flour and made an elf angel on a different day.  And on a recent morning he was found chilling in the light fixture.  “Jakey, my soon to be 5 year old, loves to find Jingle Bell hiding in the house doing all sorts of silly things,” Jessica Harvey said.  Admitting that she might give a little assistance to the busy elf, she says she finds all her elf scene ideas on Pinterest.

“Foddle”, the elf at Jessica Dennis’ house, made a statement upon his return…literally. Discovered in a bathroom sink full of marshmallows, the sneaky little elf left a note saying “I’m back!” next to a tower of treats for Jessica Dennis’ son, Jason.  But it was the spilled cereal that really gave Jason the giggles, delighting in Foddle spelling out his name in Silly Circles on the kitchen floor.

Sarah Hebein-warner’s family woke up one morning to their silly elf hanging out on the top of their Christmas tree.  But that wasn’t the worst of it.  Seems their elf likes to do crazy things like hang underwear on the Christmas tree.  “I think he got them from the clean laundry…one would hope…” Sarah shared.

Samuel B., the elf at Ashley Fechter’s house arrived on December 1st, bringing with him a full breakfast of fresh fruit, cookies, and all sorts of Christmas goodies.  But it’s possible he was just buttering up Kensey, Kaylin, and Karsyn.  The girls have since found him ziplining across their living room, taking a potty break, and proclaiming his awesomeness on their calendar.
